sustainable by design

An annual review carried out by the Building Research Establishment (BRE) in September 2009 concluded that burmatex carpet tiles and sheet ranked among the very best of floor finish options in terms of overall environmental impacts including climate change, ecotoxicity, waste disposal and fossil fuel depletion, making burmatex one of the first companies of its kind to be awarded the new A+ rating.

The continuous efforts by burmatex to develop environmental codes of best practice in the manufacturing and product design of sustainable carpet tiles was validated in June 2010, when it won the coveted environmental and social impact award at an event for the commercial interiors industry.

The award is judged by an independent panel of leading architects, specifiers and consultants and is given to the company believed to have made the most positive environmental and social impact. The award recognises burmatex’s focus on key performance indicators including manufacturing techniques, use of green electricity and recycled packaging and the management of fleet fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
