burmatex recently worked directly with students and staff, to specify a 7,500m² installation at Nailsea School as part of a flagship project within the Building Schools for the Future programme. The education flooring specialist provided product samples in different colours and textures, for consideration as part of the novel approach intended to give pupils and teachers an active voice in the design process.

Following feedback, the burmatex in-house design team developed an overall scheme for classrooms, corridors, break out and reception areas, combining standard colours from the broad-ribbed Academy carpet tile range, with bespoke colours in the same product created especially for the school. Academy also has the practical attributes of being hard wearing and BRE A+ rated, ideal for a cutting-edge school project.

The resulting interior is one that connects with its users, creating a learning environment where students can truly express themselves and that performs in every sense of the word.
