Product used: Scan in colourway Surge & Axis in colourway Pimento - both taken from burmatex’s Evolve collection

burmatex - the UK’s leading innovator in carpet tile design – has completed a 375 square metre carpet tile installation at Kendal College. The brief was to create striking flooring throughout the conference rooms, meeting rooms and stairways in the college’s brand new purpose built teaching and event facility.

burmatex worked with Newcastle based interiors designers, Ward Robinson, to design an inspiring floor that was completely original. Recognising the importance of creating spaces that resonate meaningfully with the user - which is key in the education sector - Kendal College wanted to reflect the personalities of its students and really bring the rooms to life from the floor upwards.

The carpet tiles specified were Scan in colourway Surge and Axis in colourway Pimento, which are taken from the Evolve collection. More than just visually stunning, Scan and Axis also tick the durability box. Hard working and long lasting carpet tiles are essential in education as flooring tends to take a lot of punishment, and some alternative materials can be easily marked by shoes and scratched by grit under constant heavy footfall. Carpet tiles are also favoured for their noise reduction properties.

The installation forms part of Kendal College’s landmark three-story building, which includes a new reception, hairdressing salons and a 450 seat refectory.
