Burnley College

The new £81 million Burnley College campus is one of the most ambitious and architecturally-striking centres for further and higher education built in the last 20 years. The design team behind the project wanted the strong graphic presence of the buildings to be carried through all the interiors, and turned to Burmatex Lateral® carpet tiles for the answer in the classrooms, library, offices and breakout rooms.

The tonal colour effects within the grey squares add visual interest to the floors while maintaining an overall coherence throughout the different rooms. In the corridors, the grey is punctuated by bursts of acid greens and yellows at the intersections.

Some 13,000m2 of floor tiles were supplied by Burmatex for this landmark building and the flooring scheme captures the energy and vitality of the contemporary architectural style.
