IF WE CAN’T GO OUT… BRING THE OUTSIDE IN!

Blog post

Whilst we are all living in lockdown, disconnected from the outside world, we wanted to explore ways to bring the outside in with one of the biggest interior trends of recent years – biophilic design. Biophilic design is achieved when nature is incorporated into an interior space, helping people feel connected to the natural environment. It helps in creating a calm, tranquil space to enhance productivity and reduce stress levels. In this post we take a look at ways to cleverly incorporate our products into schemes to bring the ‘outdoors in’ through the use of colour, texture, layouts and styling…

COLOUR AND TEXTURE

Schemes can be inspired by the outdoors through replicating the patterns, textures and colours. Our alaska carpet tiles perfectly relate to the invigorating outdoors due to its tactile and textural finish. The above schemes demonstrate how alaska can be used in such simple ways to create sophisticated, fresh and earthy looks.

Our products work beautifully together and additional touches of plant life and greenery can freshen up any space. Above we have combined alaska with osaka, rainfall, tivoli and tivoli mist. The mix of texture, pattern and colour perfectly compliment one another. Our large range of earthy and warm colours allows you to create your own unique, biophilic schemes.

ZONING

The above installation in Leeds is the perfect example of how well our products work alongside one another. It uses a combination of osaka, rainfall, alaska, tivoli and tivoli multiline. We love how the design layout has helped to create zones to break up the space. Bringing nature into your everyday life and having time away from the buzz of central areas of activity can create feelings of calm and relaxation. Incorporating ‘zones’ intended to separate you away from the noise and movement of the open place office can similarly have an effect to reduce stress and increase motivation.

‘There’s now substantial scientific evidence in green offices declaring a drop in sick days and overall increased productivity.’ – Frame magazine, Feb 2020 issue

We are finishing off with this stunning installation idea using our most recently launched tivoli mist – turtle bay. Beautiful spaces that connect us to nature are so important in enhancing wellbeing, inspiring us and boosting productivity. We hope you have been inspired to go green!
