In this post we are reviewing two recent design fairs; Workspace Design Show and The Stockholm Furniture Fair. We look to these types of fairs and events to pick out ideas, trends and inspiration for our products. Whether it be from talks, pattern, colour or exhibition themes.

Though we did not attend the Stockholm furniture fair in person, we were able to view images from the event online and attend a virtual talk by Karl Johan Bertilsson, the creative director of NCS, natural color system. The talk focused on colour trends for 2024 and how these trends are predicted, by looking into the psychology of colour, the need for contrasted colours in interior spaces to rest as well as focus, the new wave of vibrant colours coming through after many years of grey and how the current global environment influences colour choices. Flooring inspiration
Layout 1

Layout 1 offers an idea to creates zones on your flooring space. Having a splash of vibrant colour amongst neutrals gives your interior space a contemporary look without overcomplicating. The colours used in this scheme are orange, jet black, medium grey stripe, light beige, dark beige and metal grey.

Layout 2

Layout 2 gives an option of using colour to create a rug effect in your office space. This looks effective as it adds an element of sophistication to your space, you can change it up

Our latest product launch is the versatile and simple to use go to level loop carpet tile. Made from EqoCycle 75 recyled solution dyed nylon paired with our Bio Base recycled backing.

Our refreshed palette of 20 colours provides neutrals, to blues and finally punchy brights.

Colour Palette

Our colour palette is simple to use, providing versatility for use in any space. The colours work extremely well with pantone colour trends, we ensure our development work on new colours, is up to date with interior trends and can be useable for years to come!

Neutrals 

Warms – We have 3 warm beige shades in the palette with a corresponding beige stripe, alongside this we have a metal grey.

Cools – There are 3 cool and neutralised grey shades in the palette with a dramatic jet black, the lightest grey has a corresponding stripe.

Surface Design Show 2023

Overview

For many years now here in the design studio at Burmatex we look at various sources for inspiration and one of those are design shows, therefore we felt it would be really beneficial for us to visit the  Surface Design Show 2023. In this post we will be discussing the colour trends we spotted at the show.

The theme of the show this year was ‘Shaping Communities‘ which ran throughout the talks we attended and the show itself evoking conversations on community and what that means to us, which was an opening question in Justine Fox‘s interview with mix magazine.

Sustainability was also a key element of the show, consumers looking at the value of a product as it’s not just about the financial cost but also the environmental value and sustainability credentials it holds.

Colour Trends

Colour radiated through different materials and surfaces at the Business

After our recent launch of our carbon neutral range, arctic – we wanted to give some inspiration for product combinations that could help with creating schemes using this design. This refined colour palette of 12 colours, along with the softly directional yet organic design makes it a perfect pairing for many other products in our portfolio.

Here we see arctic marine ravine providing a pop of colour that flows beautifully into vibe minty mesh.

vibe grey linen is a perfect base to work alongside many colours in the arctic range. Here we see it with arctic oslo fog, which picks out the warmth of vibe grey linen coming through the mesh pattern, but could also be paired with plenty of other colours from the arctic range, such as hail stone or glacial grey.
