Burmatex® carpet tiles feature in the most sustainable building in Leeds

balance grid & ground carpet tiles in offices

Since 1917, making new materials from old has been at the core of our business and with a history influenced by recycling, we are strongly committed to protecting the planet. Today Burmatex® continues its commitment to lower environmental impact and carbon footprint by making all carpet products at our single manufacturing plant in West Yorkshire.

In keeping with our dedication to conserving energy and reducing waste, Burmatex® produce all flooring solutions using 100% renewable electricity. We also offer carbon neutral and carbon negative options for our carpets.

Our environmental pledge was one of the key reasons that our product ranges balance grid®, balance grade®, balance ground® and tiltnturn® were selected to be installed in the newly built offices in the most sustainable building in Leeds at City Council Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility depot. The new construction benefits from electric vehicle charging points, collection and storage of rainwater as well as a live moss wall in the canteen. It was designed to maximise the wellbeing of the Leeds City Council employees.

Additionally, the entrance to the building is fitted with Burmatex® performance barrier system armour to protect the interior from dirt and minimise the need for cleaning and the associated energy use.

Burmatex® carpet ranges are manufactured using a combination of a sustainable yarn and over 77% recycled BioBase™ recycled backing. As the WELL® building standard is based on the occupant experience, flooring can deliver several positive interactions for a building’s occupants, in terms of design, safe components and cleanliness. Burmatex® carpet products can help to contribute to wellbeing and optimise the office space experience.
