COLOUR INSPIRATION | JAPAN

Last year I visited Japan and as well as it being a trip of a lifetime, it was incredibly inspiring place to be! Japan is such a unique mix of new, bold technology and restrained, serene tradition. This juxtaposition was so prevalent in Tokyo where you could one minute be having a massive sensory overload in Harajuku and the next be in a traditional shrine where everything is quiet, poised and ritualistic. I also visited Kyoto where nature seemed to own the city, geisha walked silently through the streets and then suddenly, a cartoon character would announce safety instructions on the public subway.

The combination of all of these elements led to such a wonderful mix of colours and textures.

I have listed my favourites below with matches to Pantone numbers. Trips like this force us to be inspired out of our normal comfort zones, open our minds and welcome unique ideas and colour combinations.
