Exhibition | The American Dream: Pop to the Present
Recently we visited an exhibition at The British Museum in London; The American Dream: Pop to the Present. A show featuring artworks from some of America’s most influential and prolific print makers. The show exhibited pieces ranging from the 1940’s to present day, giving a timeline to the exhibition. All of the artists featured were people who were inspired by political and social events happening in the states. Artists who felt the need to express themselves and their personal landscapes through art. Our favourite aspects of this exhibition were:
Abstract and expressive lines
Strong, unabashed colours
Layers formed from different painting and printing methods
Quote from artist Kiki Smith “I find multiples of things more interesting than the uniqueness of things”
As always, when visiting art galleries and exhibitions we are inspired by the colour, shapes and pattern that we see. As a design department, we love to be exposed to different inspirational works. A variety of inspiration enables us to think of our product portfolio in new and interesting ways.
