DISOBEDIENT BODIES AT THE HEPWORTH | CREATIVE AND INSPIRING EXHIBITION
Last month we were writing about the Hepworth gallery in Wakefield on the occasion of the Print Art Fair. We feel really lucky to have such an inspirational place next to us, and we always enjoy our visit to the RIBA awarded David Chipperfield Architect building.
The latest exhibition- Disobedient bodies- recently opened at the Hepworth and is curated by fashion designer JW Anderson. The idea behind the exhibition is to create interactions between art and other creative disciplines such design, fashion or ceramic. As carpet designers, it is an idea which resonates, as we like to look at other creative fields to find inspiration for colours, textures, patterns, associations and layouts.
For Disobedient Bodies, JW Anderson gathers a selection of garments, sculptures, ceramics, photography and videos which explore the way the human form has been represented through time and specialities. It results in an abundance of colours and textures put together in unexpected yet creative associations. As mentioned in the leaflet made for the exhibition: “While a personal logic underpins the combinations of objects in the exhibition, Anderson hopes visitors will discover connections for themselves: 'this exhibition was never dictating a single point of view, but about asking questions and opening up these incredible examples of art and design to new readings.’” This is an idea that we love, and always try to convey in our expertise, just to make carpet creative, exiting and engaging.
