INFINITY & INFINITY STITCH | COLOUR INSPIRATIONS FOR REVAMPING A CARPET TILE COLLECTION
As carpet designer, it is challenging to revamp a collection which has been in our portfolio for decades. With time, the product becomes a reference point and some customers continue to specify it as the design, quality and performance meet their expectations. Some colours, usually blues and greys, become timeless, as others need, at some point, to be updated and modernized. This has been our challenge for revamping our historical burmatex tufted carpet tile range Infinity.
As a result, the new Infinity collection has a well-balanced colour palette comprising 6 existing colours and 24 new colours. Among these 24 colours, 6 shades of greys and blues are dedicated to the unique organic directional design of Infinity Stitch, which complements the classic flecked design of Infinity.
The originality of Infinity and Infinity Stitch results in the subtle choice and association of colours which create the overall look of the carpet. As a commodity loop pile carpet tile used in many environments - from large open space offices to smaller student accommodation – the colour palette offers a large selection of greys and blues complemented by rich and colourful shades, such as purples, pink, red, orange, yellow and greens. Anticipating future trends, these 24 new colours have been carefully developed by referencing the Pantone view colour planner – Spring/Summer 2017-, as well as inspirations from art and design exhibitions around the world.
The unique -almost textured- effect of Infinity Stitch can be described in one of the Pantone themes – Assemble - presented in the View Colour Planner- SS 2017 : “ This is an exploration of fragmented colour, uninteresting when used as flat statement but meaningful when wrought together and used in all its varying shades and tones…. This is a palette in which materials play a huge part in developing depth, contrast and interest.”
