PANTONE COLOUR OF THE YEAR 2022

Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2022 was announced this month and here at Burmatex we’ve been looking at how it can work with existing ranges, as well as use it to inspire the colouration of new ones.

The announcement of Very Peri as colour of the year, described by Pantone as “encompassing the qualities of the blues yet at the same time with its violet red undertone”, we see this colour as a lilac of the blue family. Very Peri is described as “Displaying a carefree confidence and a daring curiosity that animates our creative spirit, inquisitive and intriguing PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri helps us to embrace this altered landscape of possibilities”

As a result of the past two years of the pandemic, we feel this hue communicates a sense of mental wellbeing, and it’s connotations of future advancements in technology and the digital age feels like the right time for this to be Pantone Colour of the Year. We’ve paired it here with our Tivoli Crete Blue, but can also see it working well with our more neutral colours – this installation of Osaka Mochi with lilac pops of colour in the seating really works well.

As the year comes to a close, we look forward to seeing where Very Peri appears over the next year.
