SALONE DEL MOBILE 2017 | TRENDS

The annual Milan Salone Del Mobile (Milan Furniture Fair) was held this month. Even though we didn’t attend the event, we can look to resources online to see the key pieces shown. Below is a round-up of trends highlighted from this research.

A lot of the trends discussed in this piece overlap; green elements mixed in with circular themes, lighting that is created from simple lines and many more iterations of these four trends overlaid.

Circles

The shape that dominated the fair! Often paired with the trend for simple line to create simplistic and geometric product.

Greenery

As pantone’s colour of the year, it was no surprise to see an abundance of the colour throughout the fair. Not only was there the nod to fresh, outside greens but the whole spectrum, right through to rich, velvety emeralds.

Simple Lines

A wide range of furniture, lighting, surface pattern and product all displayed this modern, minimal and clean cut aesthetic.

Light

The real star of 2017’s event was lighting. There was the return of Euroleuse, the fairs biennial lighting show along with exhibitors focusing on how stands were lit and products illuminated. LED’s, warm orange glows and neon elements were all seen and enveloped this trend. Many trend reports and social media accounts mention lighting being used as a material during the fair- a new way to look at this interior staple.
