ZAHA HADID: EARLY PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS
On a recent trip to London, I was lucky enough to see the 'Zaha Hadid: Early Paintings and Drawings' exhibition at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery in Hyde Park. I am personally inspired by architecture anyway, so was excited to see the selection of of paintings, drawings and calligraphy produced by the world renowned architect, set within the building that was extended by Zaha Hadid Architects in 2013. I was overwhelmed by the bold use of colour and sheer scale of some of the paintings. The combinations of colours used within the paintings were inspirational and un-obvious pairings seemed like some advanced colour research that would be at home in any leading colour trend forecasting book. This type of representation of architecture is something that I have never seen before and is probably why it had such an impact on myself and how influenced I was by the artworks.
