People will return to work, education and life in general when these extraordinary times allow us to safely do so. What will happen with social distancing? The answer is nobody knows, but one danger is, it could lapse and people may struggle to keep a safe distance. So we need to think about how to best adapt our work spaces to ensure they are safe by implementing temporary measures.  A lot of these temporary demarcation measures will involve adding physical items to the space; tape, chain link, bollards etc. These are often bulky and unattractive so we want to help you with an easy solution using carpet tiles.

In this post, we explore ways in which carpet tiles can help to achieve a safe distance whilst still remaining subtle, visually appealing and relevant in years to come.

WALKWAYS

All of our carpet tiles measure 50 x 50 cm and therefore laying 4 tiles side by side can provide a simple form of measurement. This will ensure you and your colleagues are at a safe distance from one another. Striking walkways can be a great way to create your 2 metre distance. Above we have provided some example of layouts using our tivoli mist tiles. All of these templates can be adapted to suit the size of your space.

COLOUR BANDING

RUG INSERTS

As well as walkways, you can create borders, colour bands and rug inserts to separate the space, ensuring there is a safe 2 metre measure between desks and furniture. All of these ideas can also be created using our planks. They measure 25 x 100 cm so simply lay two planks next to another another to create a 2 metre distance.

ZONING

Below are some completed projects that have used colour blocking to create zones which is another great way to create socially distanced areas within a space. Combining grey tones with pops of block colour can brighten up a space whilst still remaining smart and sophisticated.
